February is a great time to take a moment out of your busy schedule and show your love to the people who matter. It’s also the perfect time to check your life insurance coverage.
The Connection Between Love and Life Insurance
Every year, Life Happens conducts the Insure Your Love campaign during February. It’s no coincidence that a campaign designed to promote life insurance awareness occurs during a month associated with love.
Most insurance benefit the insured by providing financial stability and peace of mind. Life insurance can give the insured peace of mind, too, but it’s different from other types of insurance in that it primarily benefits someone else. When we buy life insurance, we don’t do it to protect ourselves. We do it to protect our loved one.
So while it may seem strange to associate life insurance with love, when you really think about it, the connection makes perfect sense.
Protect Your Loved Ones This February
Flowers and chocolates are nice. Jewelry is even nicer. But real love goes deeper than these tokens. You want to do everything you can to provide for your loved ones—even after you’re gone. That’s why you need life insurance.
This year’s theme for the annual Insure Your Love campaign is “A Promise Kept.” You promised to be there for your spouse and to provide for your children. With life insurance, you can keep this promise no matter what happens to you.
Money doesn’t buy love, of course, and it can’t replace a loved one, but it does bring security. A life insurance benefit can cover a mortgage so surviving loved can keep the house. It can pay bills and tuition and daily expenses. It can help a family survive through difficult times.
Review Your Coverage This February
If you don’t have life insurance coverage, it may be because you never know how to bring up the topic. This month, talk about insurance as a way of showing your love.
And if you already have a life insurance policy, take a moment to review your coverage and verify that it’s enough. Important life milestones – like having a baby or buying a house – tend to increase our financial obligations. To keep up with these changes, you may need to increase your life insurance coverage.
